DIY Anti-Aging Essential Oil Blend

Whether you want to fight fine lines, wrinkles, a dry skin or if you are looking for an oil for under the eye area: this anti-aging essential oil blend is perfect for that. It’s easy to make, easy to take with you and compared to most other DIY oils you don’t need a ton of different oils to make this blend.

Now, let me start by saying that I’m not an expert when it comes to anti-aging or essential oils, but I do know by now what works for my skin. My skin can best be described as dry and an anti-aging product is at my age certainly not a luxury anymore. I was super excited to start my journey with essential oils and after I tried some blends I kept coming back to this amazing blend. In this blend I combine the ingredients that suit my skin best and are known to counteract the aging of the skin.

This is an amazing essential oil blend for the entire face (and under the eyes) if you have a dry or mature skin or as an oil for under the eye area if you have an oily skin.

This blend is rich, nourishing and your skin will love it. If you haven’t started slathering your face with essential oils then I hope this recipe will inspire you to start as well. Or just start with coconut oil or rosehip seed oil and experiment after that with blends that your skin will benefit best.

Essential facial oils (especially for the under eye area) can be really expensive. So if you think that buying a few basic oils is expensive, try buying the ready-made oils. However, once you bought the basic oils you can easily make your own oil blend and of course you can make a lot of bottles out of some basic oils which is way cheaper. Just sayin’

Anti-Aging Essential Oil

Rosehip seed Oil

The first ingredient that may sound a bit odd is rosehip seed oil. This oil is popular for its high content in essential fatty acids that are perfect for a dehydrated skin, especially to moisturize and plump up the thin skin (around the eyes). It’s also an oil that easily gets absorbed by the skin which is a bonus. After reading tons of blogs about essential oils rosehip seed oil is the one that apparently can work wonders for treating wrinkles and premature aging. It’s best for mature and acne-prone skin and it is a rich source of vitamin C,  with a lot of antioxidants that help fight wrinkle-causing free radicals and even out pigmentation.

Frankincense Essential Oil

I’m also using frankincense essential oil. You will notice that a lot of (natural) expensive brands use this oil in their skincare products to help treat dry skin, reverse the signs of aging, and reduce the appearance of scars. It’s important to get a real non-diluted version of this oil though. Some even state that frankincense oil works better than botox …. I can’t say wheter that statement is true or not, but I do love the overall benefits of this oil and I think it’s my favorite so far.

You can find frankincense essential oil HERE (I use the one from Young Living)

Jojoba Oil

I use jojoba oil because I find this a very hydrating oil that applies easily. It seems to be an almost perfect match to our skin’s sebum (the oil it produces to protect itself), which means that it’s easily absorbed by the skin. Jojoba oil also has antibacterial and antifungal properties.

Vitamin E Oil

I love vitamin E oil. It’s somewhat of a thicker oil and once in a while I use this as a mask and apply it all over my face. I love it! It strengthens the skin (especially around the eyes), is great against age spots, reduces dark circles, makes my skin super soft and it is rich in antioxidants too.

Lavender Oil

Lavender oil is a great oil to use to help heal skin conditions, sooth sunburns and it improves cellular communication within the skin. This oil is also antimicrobial, an antioxidant, heals a dry skin and reduces age spots. Especially mixed with frankincense essential oil this oil works miracles on my skin.

I use a dropper bottle for this oil blend. You’ll see that you won’t waste precious ingredients by applying too much and using a dropper is also a hygienic way of applying an oil.

The recipe makes about 1 ounce because a little oil goes a long way. Most of the above information is from various blogs, skin care specialists, but mostly from the bookJust the Essentials: How Essential Oils Can Heal Your Skin, Improve Your Health, and Detox Your Life”.

Anti-Aging Essential Oil

Ingredients (for 1-ounce/ 30 ml glass bottle with dropper)

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients in a small (dark-colored) bottle. Shake gently to combine.
  2. To use fill the dropper and apply the oil on your fingertips. Apply to the skin and massage gently. Apply in the morning before using any make-up and in the evening before going to sleep on a clean face.
  3. This recipe makes a little bit less dan 1 ounce of oil, since you’ll need some space in the bottle for the dropper (otherwise it will run over if you close the bottle). I would recommend using a kitchen scale to measure the ingredients.
  4. Use within six months.

TIP: Keep in the refrigerator if you want to use it under the eyes, it is very refreshing and great against a puffy (morning) face.

  1. Instead of using a dropper bottle could you use a spray bottle of the same size? Or would the oils perhaps clog the sprayer? Thanks.
