Christmas Smoothie

During the holiday season it can be very difficult to refuse all the sugary foods and drinks. It seems almost impossible to ignore. However, in the morning you can set the tone for the rest of the day. Breakfast is probably one of the very few moments you will be eating at home even if you have a very busy December schedule. Use this precious moment and make for example a green smoothie, like I mentioned in this article.ย  However, December is obviously a very festive month, so maybe you will have a breakfast with family (with kids) and then you might want a more festive breakfast than a green smoothie. A christmas smoothie is perfect then! Full of fruit, colorful, and it will give you lots of energy. It looks and is delicious! Anyone (kid or adult) would love to dig in, don’t you think?

A fruit loaded Christmas smoothie that will leave you healthy and energized. A true festive Christmas drink. Children will love this!

Ingredients
  • BOTTOM GREEN LAYER
  • a small banana (or half a big banana)
  • one kiwi
  • half a teaspoon of wheat grass powder
  • a few tablespoons of water
  • MIDDLE WHITE LAYER
  • a small banana (or half a big banana)
  • one small pear
  • a few tablespoons of water
  • optional: vanilla essence
  • TOP RED LAYER
  • one small apple
  • a cup of (cran)berries, any red berries will do
  • a few tablespoons of water
  • TOPPING
  • coconut flakes and pieces of berries
  • optional: lemon zest or cinnamon
Instructions
  1. For each layer blend all the ingredients separately and add into a jar one after the other. Enjoy immediately. If you want to create visible separate layers as on the picture, put the jar in the freezer for a little while (until it thickens) before you go on to the next layer. Optional (this is faster but colder), you can use frozen bananas to create thicker layers.
