Today’s focus is not about this butter bean lunch salad with sweet potato wedges. No, it’s about an even better lunch!
When I met Olga from Fablunch (For. A. Better. Lunch) and heard about her story I felt a bit ashamed. Firstly, because my focus is always on how we all can eat (even more) healthy, what is good and what is new, but I never really pay attention to the fact that there are children starving. They are hungry. I also felt ashamed I’m not thinking about them and Olga is. Not that she has the time for it, because she makes awesome vegan videos as well. My heart melts when people not only think about themselves. Let’s participate and help this amazing project. I’m so excited about my collaboration with her.
Olga designed these brilliant food containers. I just love that you can fold them into half they’re size just by pushing them on top, and that they’re in a soft BPA-free silicon instead of hard plastic material. They’re sold for such a good cause.
For every container Fablunch sells, 10 school lunches will be served to children in need. You get awesome containers and children in need get their food!
You can read more about the containers here.
Olga went on a volunteer trip to South America years ago, where she worked with the most vulnerable children in the poorest parts of the region. After witnessing the effects of poverty and hunger firsthand, her desire to help grew. She knew she wanted to do something about it, but she wasn’t sure what or how.
In the meanwhile Olga was constantly disappointed with lunch containers that were available in the marketplace. So Olga had an idea: she could create the lunch container she wished she had that would guarantee 10 free school lunches to children in developing countries.
The global food crisis we face today is a serious issue that needs our attention. Every six seconds a child dies because of hunger or malnutrition. Over 66 million children under the age of ten attend school hungry.
Olga really knew how to combine the best of two so opposite worlds. These containers are toxic-free, leak proof, and come in perfect sizes. Once I finish my meal on the go I just squeeze the container to half the size and I have space in my bag again. These containers are so durable you will not need to buy a second set, so let’s spread the word. Let’s get healthy and be helpful at the same time.
