There a lot of documentaries on health that played a huge role in informing us (the masses). All eye opening facts, stories and research about the food on our plate, sickness and health.
We all need some inspiration every now and then to remind ourselves of how unhealthy most commercial food is and what health really is, feels and looks like. Here are five food documentaries that will absolutely change the way you think about food, health and the importance of healthy food for a healthy body. Documentaries are very inspiriting and helpful to stay ”in the momentum”. However, fact is once you know how healthy feels like, you will probably not go back.
This documentary reveals the nutritional healing treatment (The Gerson Therapy) that claims to restore the body’s ability to fight off cancer and numerous other degenerative diseases. The testimonies of a few “incurable” cancer patients highlight why this long-term cure could be much more effective than medicine such as chemo therapy.
The Gerson Miracle also examines many of the elements of the Gerson Therapy, explaining why we are so ill and how we have in our grasp the power to recover our health without expensive, toxic or mutilating treatments, using the restorative forces of our own immune systems. Even the most advanced cases of cancer can be successfully reversed using this method. While the results seem miraculous, the real “miracle” lies within our own body and its healing processes. A true eye-opener!
2. Food, Inc.
Does corporate control of our daily lives really goes as far as our food? Director Robert Kenner explores the relationship between government and big business in the food industry. And it’s not good. The use of chemicals to enhance size, promote disease resistance, and preserve (even raw) food, plus the unnatural manipulation of plant genes may have disastrous consequences to human health. Modern farming is much different than traditional farming and pressure on the American farmer is considerable. Monsanto, the chemical manufacturing giant, is indicted in the film and has dedicated several pages to answering the questions raised.
2. Food Matters
In this documentary nutritionists and natural healing experts prove with scientifically-proven alternatives—that a combination of detoxification, changed diet, and appropriate supplements can treat and reverse chronic illness, even terminal cancer. The trillion-dollar “sickness industry” is exposed as a political and profit-driven force that is not serving us. Unfortunately, the full documentary is not available on Youtube.
This documentary follows patients with serious chronic conditions such as diabetes and heart disease. With the help of Dr. T. Colin Campbell they change their diets in a plant-based whole food diet. Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn investigate that most of the degenerative diseases we experience can be prevented, controlled, and even reversed by eliminating animal based and processed foods. Obesity, diabetes, stroke, and cancer are all increasing and already at critical levels. Seeing patients making such a drastic lifestyle is truly inspiring and hopeful. Unfortunately, the full documentary is not available on Youtube.
This documentary is about Joe. Joe is overweight, loaded up on steroids and suffering from a debilitating autoimmune disease. When doctors and conventional medicine were unable to help, Joe ended up feeling hopeless. However, the moment he decided to ditch the junk food and became friends with a juicer his life changed. With a juicer and generator in tow, vowing only to drink fresh fruit and vegetable juice for 60 days he started a trip of 3,000 miles with one goal in mind: To get off his pills and achieve a balanced lifestyle. A very inspirational documentary that will leave you with one craving: a fresh juice.
5. Simply Raw
In this film, holistic doctor Gabriel Cousens, MD supports six diabetics as they change to a strict raw diet of organic vegan foods for thirty days and documents the results in the reversal of their disease without the use of any drugs. The multi-level transformations experienced by the patients are astounding and inspiring.
