In my opinion, a good juice is refreshing, cold, and straightforward. This carrot ginger turmeric juice is a classic example of a juice I will always come back to. It’s refreshing, with only a few ingredients, and the combination of carrots, ginger, turmeric, and lemons is pure perfection.

Not to say I don’t like a good green smoothie, but this juice is refreshing and easy to make.

The difference between a Juice and a Smoothie

The difference is simple. When you blend all ingredients in a blender, you blend all the ingredients as a whole and serve the ingredients blended. When you juice the ingredients, you remove the fiber leaving you with only the juice of the ingredients.

How to make Carrot Ginger Turmeric Juice without a Juicer

You can make this recipe in a blender or a juicer. Any juicer will be great for this, a vertical juicer or slow masticating horizontal juicer (as you see in the video).

This recipe can be made with a blender too. After blending, the only difference is that you will still need to remove the fibers to create a juice as if made with a juicer.

Add all ingredients to a blender with a small amount of water to get the blender going. After that, strain the juice through a nut milk bag or fine cheesecloth to remove the fiber. It’s the same method as when making oat milk, for example.

However, when using a juicer, you don’t have to add any liquid (water), resulting in a pure, refreshing carrot juice.

This recipe is delicious whether you want to change your juice routine a bit or crave a sweeter juice with a ginger and turmeric kick.

What is Turmeric?

If you have never used turmeric, you will be astounded by its versatility. Turmeric is a spice from the root of a plant, and it is related to ginger. I guess that’s why it pairs so beautifully with ginger in this juice.

The most potent ingredient in turmeric is curcumin, giving it that bright yellow color. A color that stains! Which is great for a DIY project, but not so great for your skin or clothing.

Turmeric is used both fresh or grounded, and I find the taste to be a bit bitter and earthy. But also musky and peppery.

You can use the fresh root or the dried ground version for this recipe.

Health boosting juice

Carrots, turmeric, ginger, and lemons – all the ingredients for this juice have one thing in common; they are health-boosting. They are anti-inflammatory and boost the immune system. But what’s also important is that they taste amazing combined together.

Carrot

Ginger

Turmeric

Lemons

Pineapple (optional ingredient)

Ingredients

For this juice, you will only need 4 ingredients; the 5th is optional.

Fresh carrots
Carrots are the main ingredient for this juice and will be the prominent flavor.

Fresh lemons
Lemon juice will give this recipe its fresh flavor, balancing out the bitterness and sharpness of the ginger and turmeric.

Dried or fresh ginger and turmeric
If you cannot find fresh ginger or turmeric, or that is too strong for you, try to make this juice with less ginger or use dried ginger or turmeric.

Add 1/2 teaspoon dried turmeric and 1/2 teaspoon dried ginger before serving the juice. Stir it in the serving glass.

Pineapple
This is an optional ingredient if you prefer sweet juice. Pineapple is a sweet fruit and will turn this juice into lemonade. A perfect ingredient if you are new to the flavor of a juice or if you simply love sweeter juices.

It’s also a good ingredient to add if you want to use fresh ginger and turmeric but want to balance out the sharpness of these ingredients even more.

How to Make Carrot Ginger Turmeric Juice

Step 1.
Wash all ingredients. Peel the lemon to remove the skin. You don’t have to peel the ginger, turmeric, and carrots, but make sure to wash them well.

Step 2.
Add all ingredients to your juicer and juice. Serve and enjoy!

Step 3. (for the blender method)
If you want to use a blender, add all ingredients to a blender, blend on high and pour the mixture through a fine-mesh or use a nut milk bag and squeeze out the juice, just like here.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long can I keep this juice?
Fresh is always best, but it really depends on some factors. If you use fresh products and store the juice in a clean glass (filled to the rim) with a lid, it should last 2 days. After that, you will still be able to drink it, but the taste may be different, and the juice may be less nutrient-dense.

Do I need to remove the skin of the ginger and turmeric?
It’s up to you. I like to remove the skin if the ginger or turmeric is not organic, but this is a personal choice. When you leave the skin on (which is totally fine!), make sure to wash it thoroughly.

Do I need to peel the carrots?
I peel the carrots when it’s not organic, but you can perfectly just wash the carrots and juice or blend them like that.

Final Questions

Can I use frozen ingredients?
If you want to make this juice a little ahead and still juice fresh, you can peel the lemon and freeze it. All you have to do is toss it in the blender and blend. For the juicer method, you will need to wait a bit until the lemons are softer. The juicer method might get a bit messy to use frozen ingredients.

Can I use the juice pulp?
I’m always surprised by how much pulp goes to waste when juicing, so yes, if you can, please reuse the juice pulp. You can make so many great things, from burgers to pizzas to crackers.

Description

This Carrot Ginger Turmeric Juice is a dense immune-boosting and anti-inflammatory juice with carrots, ginger, turmeric, and lemons!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lemons, peeled (skin and pits removed) (use 1 lemon for the blender method)
  • 1 inch (2.5 cm) knob of fresh ginger (or 1/2 tsp ground ginger; add more if you want a more spicy juice)
  • 1 inch (2.5 cm) knob of fresh turmeric (or 1/2 tsp ground turmeric)
  • 6 medium to large carrots (use 4 carrots for the blender method)
  • Optional: 1 cup (170 grams) frozen or fresh pineapple, peeled and cored pineapple cut into pieces (use half a cup for the blender method).

Instructions

For the juicer method:

Wash and (if you want to) peel the ginger, turmeric, and carrot. If you don’t peel the carrot, ginger, and turmeric, wash them thoroughly.

Peel the lemon (the white inside is ok).

If necessary, cut the ingredients so they can fit in the juicer.

Juice and serve immediately.

For the blender method:

Wash and (optional) peel the ginger, turmeric, and carrots.

Remove the skin and pits from the lemon.

Add the carrot, ginger, turmeric, lemon, and 1 cup of water to a blender. Blend slowly and then increase the speed. All ingredients should be well blended. If the mixture is too thick, add more water.

Pour the mixture through a strainer or nut milk bag and remove the pulp (fiber). Serve the juice immediately.

For both the juicer and blender method, you can keep the pulp for later.

Notes

This juice can be kept in the fridge in a container with a lid for up to 2 days.

The juice pulp is excellent to use in a variety of recipes. It can act as a flour/binder in recipes such as burgers, crackers, bread, and pizzas.

If you use dried ginger/turmeric: add 1/2 teaspoon dried turmeric and 1/2 teaspoon dried ginger before serving the juice. Simple stir it in the serving glass.
