If you are trying to sneak in some fruits in your kids’ diet, or if you need a change from your regular smoothie routine- this festive Christmas smoothie is one to try.

INGREDIENTS FOR CHRISTMAS SMOOTHIE

To create a layered smoothie, you will need to make three separate smoothies and keep the colors separate until you are ready to serve your smoothie. Also, your smoothie should be thick, so the colors stay separate. Frozen bananas and a thick yogurt will make your smoothie thick enough.

You will need to blend frozen banana, kiwi, chopped pistachio nuts, water, lemon- or lime juice, and a Medjool date for the green layer.

Next, make the red layer with frozen banana, berries, and a few tablespoons of almond milk.

Finally, all you need to blend for the white layer is a plant-based yogurt, frozen banana, water, and vanilla essence.

You can top your smoothie with coconut flakes and chopped pistachio nuts.

TOPPING OPTIONS

Instructions

For each colored layer blend all the ingredients separately in a blender and place in a separate jar. Rinse the blender with water before moving on to the next color. Place all three colors 1 by 1 in a glass. Serve with extra pistachio nuts.

Serve immediately or keep it the fridge for 1-2 days.

Notes

If you want to create visible separate layers you will need a thick smoothie consistency. A thick can be achieved by using frozen bananas and a thick plant-based yogurt, such as coconut yogurt.

If your smoothie is too thick, add more water or plant-based milk.
