Description

This bumble coffee recipe is like a coffee mocktail. Refreshing and invigorating with only 5 ingredients. A sweet, bold, and delicious barista-style coffee made at home recipe.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.4 oz (40 ml) orange juice
  • 1 drop mint extract (optional)
  • 1 tsp maple syrup or agave syrup
  • 3.4 oz (100 ml) coffee or espresso
  • 2.7 oz (80 ml) sparkling water
  • 56 ice cubes
  • for serving: orange slice/mint leaves

Instructions

  1. The day before, prepare the coffee or espresso and place it in the refrigerator to cool.
  2. Squeeze the orange juice.
  3. Add maple syrup and mint extract to the cold brew coffee or espresso.
  4. Stir to combine and set aside.
  5. To a serving glass, add the orange juice. And cover the orange juice with ice cubes. Followed by sparkling water.
  6. Pour the coffee over the sparkling water. If you want to create separated layers, place a spoon in the glass so it can balance against the side. Then gently pour the coffee over the spoon in the glass.
  7. Serve with mint leave and an orange wedge. Stir to combine and enjoy.

Notes

Coffee
Cold brew, iced coffee, or cooled coffee are all excellent options for this recipe. The most important is the quality of the coffee.

Sweetener
Feel free to use any other sweetener for this drink. I recommend using a syrup-based sweetener, such as maple syrup or agave syrup.

Spoon
You don’t need to use a spoon to pour in the coffee. This method only helps to separate the layers, and it is optional. Eventually, after a good stir, the drink will turn completely brown.

Caffeine free
The taste will not change much if you use caffeine-free coffee. Only coffee powder replacements, such as Dandy Blend, will change the flavor. It’s a personal preference if you like that combination, but it’s worth a try!

Serve
Serve this drink in a large glass (11oz), so it can accommodate the ice cubes. The more ice cubes you use, the more the layers will stay separated.

Make ahead
Make the cold brew the night before and keep it in the fridge so you can whip up this drink in less than 5 minutes.

Extra punch
If you miss an extra punch, add a slice of fresh ginger (sliced) to the cold coffee brew. The difference is subtle, but it gives this mocktail a nice punch.
