Description
This cozy drink recipe is perfect when you love both a matcha latte and warm chocolate milk. This Chocolate Matcha Latte is rich, energizing and indulgent. A perfect a pick me up drink.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 gr matcha powder
- 1/4 cup / 60 ml warm water (∼70 Celsius degrees / 160 Fahrenheit)
- 15-20 gr (2 squares) dark chocolate or 1 tbsp chocolate chips
- 2/3 cup / 150 ml plant-based milk (such as soy milk)
- optional: maple syrup to sweeten
- optional: date syrup for decorating the glass
Instructions
- Prepare the matcha: Sift the matcha powder into a bowl to remove any lumps. Add warm water (about 70 Celsius degrees / 160 Fahrenheit) and whisk vigorously in a zigzag motion until frothy.
- Melt the chocolate: If using chocolate squares, chop the chocolate into smaller pieces.
- Heat the milk: Add the milk to the frother with the chocolate squares/chips.
- Decorate the glass: To decorate a glass with date syrup, pour the syrup into the bottom of the glass, dip the milk frother into the syrup, lift it slightly, and briefly pulse the frother on and off to create a decorative swirl effect up the sides of the glass.
- Layer: Pour the matcha into the glass, followed by the warm chocolate milk. Sweeten to taste and serve.
Notes
- Skip the sweetener if the milk is already sweetened to bring out the pure matcha flavors. Using too much sweetener can completely drown out the matcha flavor.
- Experiment with different types of milk for varied flavors.
- To make your warm milk extra frothy, use cold milk.
