A while ago I asked on social media if you know what this little tool is. For most of you (as it did for me before I knew what it was) it looked like a paint roller. So what is it? This beauty tool, also known as a jade roller, is a roller with on both sides a piece of jade stone that you literally roll over your face. Jade is primarily considered an ornamental gemstone (jade), it is also said that it can have healing powers. The jade roller was used by the Ancient Chinese for centuries for smooth, youthful looking skin.
I tested the jade roller for five weeks and would like to share my experience with you.
What are the benefits of the jade roller?
The jade roller is supposed to:
- improve blood circulation and skin tone
- improve elasticity of the skin
- promote lymphatic drainage
- reduce puffiness and wrinkles
- reduce dark under eye circles
- eliminating toxins
- the jade roller can also tighten pores since the jade remains cold even when in direct contact with the skin
Pretty amazing, right? I had to give this a try.
How to use it?
To use the jade roller, you simply roll upwards and outwards on your face and neck. You literally “lift” and roll the wrinkles and impurities up and out of your skin. The below video will exactly show you how to use the jade roller.
As said, I have been using this for five weeks and although I started rather skeptical I really like this tool now as it feels relaxing to use. Here are some benefits I already experienced.
The immediate effects
I used the jade roller after applying my day crème and immediately noticed that my skincare was absorbed very fast. Also my skin had a better blood circulation, which left me with a nice blush.
I also noticed that if I woke up with a puffy face the jade roller seems to be the perfect solution. Gone! For some reason the stone on the jade roller is always cold, so therefore I found it a pleasure to use this every morning. I have also been using the smaller stone on the other side of the roller to lift the eyes and brows. It feels really refreshing. The jade roller comes in two sizes, large and the double, with a special little roller for the eyes. You can buy the jade roller here.
What about you? Have you ever tried it? Some salons seem to use this. They very often use two rollers at the same time. What a pure relaxation that must be!
Bedankt, leuke review!
Ben echt benieuwd!
So, @jade_roller on IG is using a very bootlegged Vimeo version of your video selling a product of theirs. Thoroughly annoyed me, since their references so many different products that aren’t their own. Thought you might want to know.
Thank you for informing me Sarah.
Just used this for the first time today, it’s the most relaxing thing ever. It helped me get rid of my hungover face!!
That’s so nice Rachel! Thank you for sharing! 🙂
I have two question kindly reply
I have thin face puffinees only on eyes not on face so is it good for thin face?
Second jade roller is only for 1 person r after cleansing jade roller my partner can use ?
Hi Attiya,
Yes you should be able to use it. I never heard it wasn’t suitable for people with a thinner skin.
I think if you clean it, yes.
Hope this helps.
Best,
Bianca
