There are many healthy fall foods, such as pumpkins, apples, and pears. However, many of us are completely overlooking one autumn fruit: persimmons. They look a bit like orange tomatoes and the taste is more similar to a stone fruit. The difficult part with persimmons is the fact that they need to be very ripe to taste sweet and delicious. They are ripe when they are very soft and the leafy stem pulls away from the persimmon easily.
While ripe persimmons taste great on their own, a true smoothie addict will also love a warm persimmon smoothie. Persimmons contain lots of fibre, Vitamin C and A and lots of copper and manganese as well.
Heating a smoothie? No, you are not going to heat a smoothie. You can of course, but that will also destroy a lot of the healthy vitamins and minerals. This recipe will warm the smoothie just a little bit. There are two ways to do so.
- If you own a powerful high speed blender then blending the smoothie for 2 minutes will already create a warm smoothie.
- If you don’t own a powerful blender or you do not want to risk overheating your blender, then warming the almond milk just a little bit before blending the smoothie will do the same. Here are two ways to make your own almond milk, the traditional way and the fast version.
It is so comforting and easy to make. This recipe involves only 5 ingredients, it is fast, warming, easy to make and a healthy sweet autumn treat that you can enjoy without any guilt. Definitely not your average type of smoothie!
